Asyad Shipping, the shipping arm of Asyad Group, won the Ship Manager of the Year award for 2022 at the ninth edition of The Maritime Standard Awards in Dubai, UAE.
The Maritime Standard Awards is an annually held regional event that recognizes excellence in the shipping, ports and maritime industries in the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. More than 800 top executives, from the GCC, Asia and Europe gather to witness the prestigious awards presented to leading entities across the industry.
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nadhairi, CEO of Asyad Shipping and Asyad Drydock, said: "This recognition is the culmination of outstanding efforts made by Asyad Group to advance our competencies in maritime transport and ensure highly competitive services in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. Al Nadhairi added that this year’s award was a show of consistency as Asyad Group picked up the 2021 Bulk Shipping Company of The Year award in recognition of its outstanding performance. “These accomplishments were driven by Asyad Group’s efforts to provide integrated and flexible logistics solutions that suit customers who aspire to enter the MENA markets or reach regional and global markets using Oman’s many advantages as a leading global logistics hub,” he said.
Asyad Group was also a key participant in this year’s edition of The Maritime Standard Tanker Conference which was held a day after the Awards. Asyad Shipping and Asyad Drydock CEO, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nadhairi, and Asyad Shipping COO Franck J. Kayser were keynote speakers in two different panel discussions with senior policymakers and heads of major shipping companies, ports and classification societies.
The two speakers highlighted the Group's recovery strategies after the COVID-19 pandemic and ways to achieve sustainability in light of the environmental challenges faced by the maritime transport sector. The CEO underlined Asyad Group's efforts and plans to promote clean energy, monitor gas emissions, and reduce waste and environmental pollution through environmental management systems. He said the Group was implementing several initiatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the maritime transport field. As such, Asyad Group has adopted the latest technology in its fleet for exhaust gas purification to be able to use low sulfur fuels in compliance with IMO policy, as well as deploying non-degradable silicone-based hull coating paints.
Asyad Group participates in this annual conference to showcase its policies of utilizing its advanced assets and technical capabilities to ensure flaw of goods during crises and leverage the strategic geographical location of the Sultanate of Oman and its proximity to shipping lines.
